Rockstar announced earlier today the grand opening of the “Rockstar Social Club,” with GTA IV being planned as the first game to be featured on the site. The Social Club is a cross-platform affair, allowing fans of Rockstar (groupies?) to sign up using their Gamertag or PSN ID and access a whole host of cool features.

On tap for GTA IV is the LCPD Police Blotter, which will track single-player criminal activity around Liberty City and map it out for all to see. The Blotter will highlight all the “most dangerous” areas of the city and detail what weapons are most likely to be used in the commission of a crime. In addition, Rockstar has announced “The Story Gang,” which ranks players who finish the single-player based on total amount of time, a Hall of Fame for those who hit the top of the leaderboards and the “Liberty City Marathon,” which tracks milestones such as miles walked, driven, or swam, as well as bullets fired and stunt-jumps performed.

Perhaps the coolest of the GTA IV section of the Social Club is the “100% Club.” This area will keep an eye out for the first 10 people to complete 100%, with the winners receiving a key to Liberty City. Personally, I’d think you should use that key to loot all the stores without running afoul of the cops, but that’s just me. So if you want your lack of a social life to be immortalized forever, then stock up on Mountain Dew Gamer Fuel, hook up the catheter and constantly remind yourself that you’ll sleep when you’re dead. Once the initial competition is over, the 100% Club will track gamers to see who can hit the “that’s it, I’ve done everything” mark in the shortest amount of time.

So as you can see, Rockstar is planning quite the community experience for GTA IV gamers. They’ve also hinted that the Social Club will extend beyond GTA IV into the future, but thus far are playing coy with the details. The Social Club opens its doors on April 15th, so make sure to head on over and get your cool bracelet that means you don’t have to stand in line. And grab me a cocktail while you’re at it.
