Chair Acquires Rights to Ender’s Game Novels, Announces
Posted by Mark Melnychuk, 351 days ago Jan 30, 2008 18:38

Chair Entertainment group announced today that it has acquired the exclusive rights to the Ender’s Game novels, and is currently developing a game based upon them entitled “Battle Room.” Chair has rights to develop games based on the property for all existing platforms, and in cooperation with Ender’s Game author Orson Scott Card, will begin development later this year.  The premise of the “Battle Room” comes from a training simulation used in the books, where the most intelligent children of Earth are put through rigorous military training and war games in order to raise an army capable of defeating humanity’s alien enemies known as the Formics.

Orson Scott Card commented on the announcement of the adaptation of his novels saying, “It’s not enough to slap the Ender’s Game name on just any game - it has to be exciting, memorable, and endlessly replayable. Chair shares my understanding of this and I am looking forward to working with them to ensure the game is as authentically Enderish as possible.”

Donald Mustard, creative director at Chair Entertainment Group outlined the team’s objective for Battle Room stating “our goal is to create an authentic Ender’s Game experience that delivers awesome gameplay and can be enjoyed by both longtime fans and gamers new to the series.”

The names Card and Mustard may sound familiar to some gamers out there, as Donald Mustard served as the lead designer for the game Advent Rising, which Card wrote the story for. Fans are welcome to share their thoughts on the announcement on Chair’s official forums at www.chairentertainment.com/community/forums/.
