In a recent interview with MTV, Chris Morgan, currently penning the script for the Gears of War film, told the station his plans for the movie adaptation of the game. The movie industry has had few game adaptations that have been well received, but Gears is hoping to avoid that legacy.
Morgan plans to make this movie as gritty and realistic as possible, which does mean they will cut down the amount of CGI used. “In (director Len Wiseman’s) mind, he wants to make it as realistic as possible and to blur those lines where your mind says, ’Oh, it’s a big CGI film” says Morgan. The movie makers want to keep this film as close to the game as possible and want you to feel like this is Emergence Day.
Some rumors have been flying that this would be a prequel to the first game. Those whispers are false, to a certain extent: "There are elements to it that can be considered a prequel, but it’s not a prequel as far as I’m concerned," hinted Morgan.
We in the gaming world, prepare for a second dose of Emergence Day on November 7th, when Gears of War 2 hits stores. You better believe that all those gamers fighting the Locust now will be lining up to see it happen on the big screen when the game comes to life.
