Just in case you needed more reason to pick up Dead Space, the new sci-fi survival-horror game from EA that promises to make you change pants at least twice per play session, the publisher has announced that anyone buying the game within the first two weeks of release will be able to access special limited-edition suits for the game’s protagonist.
360 owners can download the Xbox-themed Elite suit, while PS3 owners will be granted access to the PlayStation-themed Obsidian suit. Unfortunately, PC owners are getting left out in the cold, as this is a console promotion only, so you’ll be stuck with the same old boring outfit Isaac starts the game with.
For console owners, however, these new outfits not only move you way up the necromorph slaying fashion scale, but also provided enhanced protection as well as increased inventory slots, prolonging your inevitable death just a little longer.
If you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll want to get Dead Space as soon as possible, as I guaranteee it will scare the bejeesus out of you on a regular basis. You’re going to need these new suits to fight off the horrors that accost you in every dark room and dimly lit corridor.
This promotion is also quite a sly one for EA, as it promises them more new game sales and will likely make at least a minor dent in the used game market. It’s similar to Epic’s recent announcement that anyone who buys a new copy of Gears of War 2 will recieve a code for free multiplayer maps. Seems as though publishers are realizing that the best way to get gamers to buy new games is to offer them something they can’t get with a used copy. Who would have thought the solution would be so simple?
