At this point, it’s unlikely you’ve already gotten tired of the 84 new master tracks available in Rock Band 2, not to mention the 55 songs ported over from the original game plus whatever DLC you already own. But, just in case you’re the greedy type, Harmonix Music Systems has confirmed that they are releasing even more content for the game, and that every ounce of it will be free of charge.
According to a post on the official Rock Band forums:
"First off, thank you to all of you who’ve bought Rock Band 2 and are online playing the 84 master tracks that came with the game! As promised, Harmonix will be delivering 20 songs of free DLC to customers who buy Rock Band 2. This content will be available later this fall. Stay tuned for news [regarding the] official release date for these tracks."
Harmonix isn’t talking about what the new songs are going to be.
Also contained in the post was news on the game’s missing Jukebox mode, which was originally intended to let you listen to the songs without playing them (Rock Band iTunes, if you will). It seems this feature was scrapped from the game’s final version, and it doesn’t look like it will be showing up down the line either. Bummer, but you can soothe your pain with the knowledge that you’re about to get a bunch of free music, so don’t cry too much about it.
