This announcement has led analyst Koki Shiraishi to claim that Nintendo stock will now soar as the Christmas season approaches, and that Wii shortages are likely to continue for another holiday season. Since worldwide demand is strong, it’s likely that a good chunk of this new production and increased sales will come from Europe, where the Euro continues to surf along at an all-time high compared to the dollar, making it one of Nintendo’s most profitable regions right now.
So for you, humble consumer, this means that if you still haven’t been able to find a Wii, things aren’t about to get any better in the forseeable future. I suggest becoming very good friends with the people at your local game store, and subtley asking if you can sleep under the register until the next Wii shipment. Just make sure they wake you up so you can get yours...it gets cold down there on the floor and we wouldn’t want you getting sick.
