Peter Molyneux, the evil genius behind the Fable franchise, has been very cryptic when it comes to Fable 2’s release date. His previous allusions to the game coming "when the leaves turn brown" and when it starts to "get chilly" led us all toward a Fall release, but with no specifics as to which month.
Some eagle-eyed NeoGAF posters think they’ve got it all figured out, as a recent developer diary featuring Molyneux features him scribbling in a notebook and drawing a box around the word "October," a not-so-subtle hint that, when taken with the other clues, we should be spending less money on Halloween costumes and more money on a certain game in that month.
Gamespot breaks down a number of other clues on their blog, including the fact that Microsoft doesn’t have a high profile release yet listed in October, the one such month in their calendar which, as of right now, has a hole. Also, searches of databases for GameStop, Best Buy, and Amazon all have the title pegged with an October release, though they all disagree on the particular day.
While Microsoft hasn’t confirmed the rumor, things are looking more and more likely as all the pieces come together. We are expecting an announcement by E3 if not before, so stay with us as we bring you all the latest on Fable 2 and more at next month’s big show.
