You love BioWare, don’t you? Of course you do: they made Mass Effect, and that was quite an amazing game. And they’re the studio who created Knights of the Old Republic, and we all know that was a terrific game. Well, sort of like how Vanilla Ice didn’t want to be known forever as the guy who ripped off Queen to make "Ice, Ice Baby," BioWare wants to show you that they’re about more than just making good RPGs for the Xbox. They can make good RPGs for other systems too! Actually, they’re trying to broaden themselves all over, as is evident in a quote from an interview Mark Darrah conducted with Gamasutra:
"Yeah, we’re looking into Wii and PSP as a company, as well, but nothing’s been decided, and nothing’s been announced. And we are, from styles of games, we are trying to broaden our portfolio."
I’m always happy to see a developer stretch themselves and try new things because, if nothing else, it helps them get better at the stuff they already do well. I just get giddy with the excitement of what BioWare could do with the Wiimote or how they could really push the PSP to its technological limits. Let’s just hope that whatever they’re next project is, it comes out a little better than "Ninja Rap."
