Sometimes it feels like Nintendo has all but abandoned their core audience, the very folks who got them to where they are. Sure, the Wii has now rounded out the mascot stable by releasing a Mario, Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros. Wii iteration for each franchise, but everything else that’s come out wasn’t made for you and me, it was made for soccer moms and grandfathers. I occasionally look over at my Wii, watching it sit silently and sometimes pulse with blue light, asking me to install an update I’ll likely never use. And then I think to myself, "With the $250 I spent on you, I could have bought several great games for the other systems that don’t involve any kind of waggle whatsoever.

It seems that all is not lost however, as Nintendo’s Marc Franklin is promising that at E3 the Big N "will be announcing several new titles that core gamers will be interested in." What could these mystery games be? Well, I suppose I could do with the next Zelda installment, or maybe a new Punch-Out! game. Though if it turns out to just be some sort of Pokemon game for the Wii I’m going to cry myself to sleep.
