Superhero games, much like superhero movies, are money-printing machines. Throw the X-Men or Spider-Man on a cover and you’re just about guaranteed to make cash hand over fist. In fact, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance made so much money that it wasn’t a matter of if a sequel would be made, but rather when. Now, Activision has leaked the first details of the upcoming game, sure to make comic fans everywhere geek out in anticipation.
The game is planned to be set during the "Civil War" story arc, forcing gamers to choose a side and do battle with the other group’s heroes and villains. While specific roster details haven’t yet emerged, the developers are already promising over 20 playable characters, featuring such fan favorites as Wolverine, the Hulk, and Venom. There is also a new feature being implemented which will allow you to fuse two characters’ powers together, allowing you to create your own superpowered justice- (or death-) wielding machine.
As far as who will get to play the game, it looks like anyone with a console or handheld is in business. Sorry PC owners, it doesn’t look like there are any plans to include your platform at this point. Oh well, if you’re only gaming on a PC then you’re likely used to disappointment by now.
