Normally job postings aren’t much to make a fuss over. All hardware manufacturers are constantly looking for programmers, testers, engineers, etc., so a lot of positions come and go and no one bats an eye.
Suddenly though, things are different, as a seemingly innocuous post on Nintendo’s job board could mean that the Wii is heading in a whole new direction. The position in question is a software/hardware tester job, and the description of duties includes "creating and executing a test plan for Wii’s USB devices."
What sort of devices could this be? We all know there’s a lot lot of stuff you can plug into a USB port, so you’ve got to wonder what exactly Nintendo has on the horizon. The most interesting capability this would create would be the potential for Nintendo to finally create a long-requested external hard drive to store all of those Virtual Console and Wiiware games that clutter up your Wii Channels. Here’s hoping Nintendo has finally come to their senses, and the days of deleting and redownloading content due to a lack of space is coming to an end.
